Taking care of natural fabric garments requires some specific care instructions to ensure their longevity and maintain their appearance. Here are some general guidelines for caring for natural fabric garments:-
Sorting – Sort your laundry by color and fabric type. Separate dark and light-coloured garments to prevent color bleeding or transfer. Avoid mixing natural fabrics with synthetic fabrics to prevent damage.
Hand or Machine washing- Depending on the fabric type and care label instructions, you can choose to hand wash or machine wash your natural fabric garments. Handwashing is generally gentler and recommended for delicate fabrics. When machine washing, use a gentle cycle and cold water to prevent shrinkage and color fading. Most fabrics used at Label Zuka are prewashed and pre-shrunk. We recommend separate hand wash of our garments especially dark colors for longevity.

Detergent selection- Use mild, pH-neutral detergents that are suitable for natural fabrics. Harsh detergents can damage the fibers and cause discoloration. Avoid using bleach unless specifically instructed on the care label.

Stain treatment- Treat stains promptly using a stain remover or a mild detergent before washing. Gently blot or dab the stain instead of rubbing it, as rubbing can spread the stain or damage the fabric.
Drying- Air drying is typically the best option for natural fabrics. Hang or lay the garments flat on a clean towel or drying rack away from direct sunlight or heat sources. This helps prevent shrinkage and maintains the garment’s shape. Avoid using a dryer for natural fabrics. Drying in shade also prevents discoloration ,which is a fabric.
Ironing- Natural fabrics generally benefit from ironing to remove wrinkles. Set the iron to the appropriate temperature for the fabric type (low to medium heat) and iron the garment inside out to prevent direct contact with the iron. Use a pressing cloth if necessary to protect delicate fabrics. We recommend standing steam iron for our garments before storing them back after brief wearing.
Storage- Before storing natural fabric garments, ensure they are completely dry and clean. Fold them neatly and store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Consider using acid-free tissue paper to prevent creasing and maintain the fabric’s integrity.
